The moment a power line hit a tree, causing a fire explosion in Melbourne has been caught on camera.
The dramatic vision, filmed by motorists and uploaded to social media platform TikTok, shows a tree stuck in power lines during high winds, before it catches fire and explodes.
A number of cars can be seen under power lines.
It is not yet known if there were any fatalities as a result of the explosion.
A massive clean-up is underway after 146km/h winds destroyed homes, uprooted 100-year-old trees and knocked out power.
More than 5,000 people called for help while more than 100,000 homes were still extinguished this morning.
Authorities said strong wind gusts had not been seen in more than a decade.
Emergency crews are now focusing their attention on the massive clean-up effort, which may take days.
